Lyon and Watson rule six clubs out of the premiership race

2020-06-29T13:55+10:00

Garry Lyon and Tim Watson have ruled six clubs out of this year’s premiership race.

Speaking on SEN Breakfast, Lyon believes Adelaide, Fremantle, Sydney, Melbourne, Essendon and suprise packet Gold Coast can’t win the 2020 flag.

But Lyon feels this is the most wide open season he has ever seen.

“I think this the most winnable Grand Final in my time of watching football seriously,” the Melbourne great said.

“I think this is as wide open as I have ever, ever seen the game. It is so winnable, it so winnable. I’ve never seen it more open.

“Clearly Adelaide can’t, Fremantle can’t.

“I don’t think the Swans can win. I don’t think Gold Coast can win. Probably not Essendon and Melbourne.

“The Demons can’t because the Demons can’t do anything forward of the centre, again.”

Watson doesn’t think his former club is at a point where they can challenge for the premiership.

“Essendon can’t win the Grand Final,” Watson said.

“They haven’t shown enough to suggest that they are going to be one the best performers.”
