The alarming stat for the Sydney Swans

2020-06-30T09:57+10:00

Terry Wallace has uncovered some worrying numbers for the Sydney Swans.

What once was a fortress of a home ground at the SCG is now actually a hindrance such is their subpar form at the venue.

On the back of their 28-point loss to the Western Bulldogs on Thursday night, Wallace went through the alarming numbers which would have John Longmire concerned.

“The Sydney Cricket Ground is no longer a fear for AFL clubs,” Wallace said on SEN’s Dwayne’s World.

“For 20 years, teams trembled at flying up and challenging the Sydney team and the Bloods culture. Through that period the Swans won 70 percent of games at the SCG.

“When you have a look at it from 2012 to 2017 they were actually at a 77 percent winning record.

“For the last three years, it’s difficult to believe, but the Sydney Swans have a worse record at the SCG than what they do when they travel interstate.

“In their last 18 SCG games they are six wins and 12 losses for a 33 percent win-loss record which is their worse result since 1994 or the pre-Lockett days.

“On Friday night, the Swans kicked their lowest first-quarter score in SCG history. The competition needs a hostile SCG and Bloods culture.”

The Swans have lost both of their games at the SCG this year to Essendon and the Bulldogs meaning they have just one win from their past five at the ground.

The will look to bounce back when they meet a struggling West Coast on the road at Metricon Stadium on Saturday.
