Report: Sidebottom facing up to a month suspension

2020-07-01T10:27+10:00

Steele Sidebottom could face a four-week ban for his multiple breaches of the AFL’s COVID-19 protocols.

The midfielder spent Saturday afternoon with injured Collingwood defender Jeremy Howe.

Sidebottom is expected to be cited for three different breaches after sleeping at Daniel Wells’ house on Saturday night, using an Uber and being driven home by police on Sunday morning as his phone had died and he was not in a position to drive himself – he was not charged with any offence.

AFL Media is reporting that the ban could be as much as four weeks, though the Magpies are attempting to reduce it down to two.

Lynden Dunn was also involved on the Saturday night and likely faces a one-game ban for getting in the Uber.

Rideshare apps are not permitted under the AFL’s COVID-19 protocols.

Neither player will be allowed to return to Collingwood’s facilities until they are tested and cleared.
