Lions mid comments on Cameron trade speculation

2020-07-05T13:28+10:00

Brisbane midfielder Mitch Robinson says star teammate Charlie Cameron has no intention of leaving the club.

Channel Seven recently reported that Cameron is prepared to request a trade to Victoria if a suitable contract from the Lions couldn't be agreed.

Three Victorian clubs are reportedly keeping tabs on the All-Australian small forward, including Carlton and North Melbourne.

The 26-year-old joined the Lions from Adelaide at the end of 2017 and won the club's goalkicking last season with 57 majors.

“We got Charlie Cameron here a few years ago and he’s been amazing for us, for our culture and for the playing group,” Robinson told Channel Nine’s The Sunday Footy Show.

“We know what he brings on the field but off the field he’s a bit of a larrikin and the energy that he brings to our weight sessions, our training, just the smile he has every day.

“I’ve been seeing the rumours and innuendo in the media about him wanting to go, but he’s told me to my face that he wants to stay so I think we can squash that pretty quick.

“We love having him up here and he loves the Brisbane Lions and the environment we’ve set for our team up here.”

Cameron is contracted to the Lions until the end of 2021.
