Richmond star Tom Lynch will undergo surgery on a broken hand he sustained in Sunday’s win over Melbourne, according to AFL Media’s Damian Barrett.
Lynch hurt his right hand early in the contest and required a protective glove to play out the remainder of the match.
He remains hopeful of playing against Sydney at the Gabba on Sunday.
The plan is for the premiership forward to join his Tigers teammates in their hub on the Gold Coast by midnight Monday.
Lynch booted three goals against the Demons including the sealer late in the final quarter.
The victory came at a heavy cost with Dion Prestia (syndesmosis), Toby Nankervis (syndesmosis) and Trent Cotchin (hamstring) all picking up injuries.
The trio will miss this weekend's match against the Swans.
Tigers' Tom Lynch will have surgery today on the hand he broke against Melbourne yesterday. Still plans to get to the club's Gold Coast hub. Story soon on AFL Live app
