Saints issue injury update on Hannebery and Jones

2020-07-06T10:38+10:00

St Kilda is in fairly good shape from an injury viewpoint with only a few players on the sidelines.

In last Thursday night’s win over Carlton, midfielder Dan Hannebery sustained a minor hamstring injury which according to the club’s Chief Operating Officer Simon Lethlean is not too serious.

“He’s got a little nick in his hamstring, it’s not a bad one,” Lethlean said on SEN Breakfast.

“I reckon given his history it will be a couple of weeks but no more than that. It’s not a bad one but it’s enough to disrupt him for a couple of weeks.”

Fellow Sydney recruit Zak Jones also has a hamstring problem, which forced him out of the Blues win, but could be back for Saturday afternoon’s clash with Fremantle.

“Zak’s good. If we had have been playing Thursday like we were going to be, it was going to be a stretch,” Lethlean added.

“He’ll be a test obviously, but he’s looking pretty good. If I was a betting man I’d say he’s ready to go.”

Luke Dunstan is the only other key Saints injury, sidelined for up to three months with a torn pectoral muscle.

The fourth-placed Saints are in their Queensland hub in Noosa for the next five weeks as they look to make it four wins from six games in 2020 when they meet the Dockers at Metricon Stadium.
