Brendon Goddard was not impressed with a taunt from North Melbourne’s Luke McDonald directed at Essendon speedster Conor McKenna.
Roos defender McDonald covered his face and turned his back on McKenna to mock the Irishman’s COVID-19 scare.
The pair were involved in a quarter-time scuffle with McKenna making his first appearance since testing positive to the virus in June.
Speaking on ABC Grandstand, Goddard feels McDonald’s sledge was out of line.
“What is he trying to sledge a bloke for potentially testing positive for a virus?” the ex-Bomber said.
“It’s a bit of a dig at Luke and questioning his intelligence but it’s kind of stupid in my opinion.
“I always thought a good sledge is one with a little bit of wit and whatever – but to pot a bloke about potentially having a virus … in today’s climate?”
McKenna had 18 disposals in Essendon’s gritty 14-point win over the Kangaroos at Metricon Stadium.
The Bombers moved to 4-1 with a game in hand against Melbourne still to come.
