“Thanks to the AFL for that one": Key Dog makes big admission over score review

2020-07-18T13:03+10:00

Western Bulldogs forward Josh Bruce admits his first goal in their win over Essendon on Friday night was “pretty lucky” not to be called as touched.

The decision was reviewed thoroughly before a score review judged there not to be significant evidence to overturn the original call.

Speaking on SEN’s Crunch Time, Bruce conceded Essendon defender Cale Hooker did touch the ball during the incident in this first quarter.

“I don’t want to speak out of turn here but I’ll say it was probably pretty lucky to be counted at a goal,” he said.

“Thanks to the AFL for that one.

“Then after that, I lost my way a little bit and lost my confidence a little bit (with kicking for goal) so it’s just one of those things where you go back to the drawing board.

“Growing up as a kid, I know I’m capable of (kicking goals) and I proved two weeks ago I can kick six straight so you have nights like that sometimes.”

Bruce kicked one goal on Friday night, just a fortnight after kicking six against North Melbourne.
