Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson says his side lacked the polish of the Sydney Swans following their seven-point defeat at the SCG.
Hawthorn's kicking efficiency of 44% was the worst the club has registered under Clarkson. It's also the fourth-worst by any side in the last 15 years.
Clarkson told reporters post-match that his side simply lacks confidence and didn't appear as threatening as the Swans in attack.
"We lost the game of footy because we just didn’t have enough polish. We had the scoring shots and the opportunities," he said.
"The Swans seemed to have a lot more space and a lot more danger in their offense.
"We have a group that is down on confidence at the moment. We came to Sydney 3-1 and now we’re 3-5."
