Report: Cats emerge as suitor for Crows mid as North drop out of race

2020-07-31T12:29+10:00

Geelong reportedly has interest in Adelaide’s Brad Crouch, according to the Herald Sun.

The report asks the question that it must be the Cats who have “to be watched closely in this space”, indicating that they’ve emerged as a potential suitor for the Crows midfielder.

Having lost Tim Kelly to West Coast and with the recruitment of Jack Steven having not quite worked out just yet, Geelong is believed to be looking towards Crouch who becomes a restricted free agent at the end of this season.

Adelaide would likely receive a high draft pick as compensation, perhaps pick two, if Crouch signs a deal worth around $650,000 with a rival club.

It is understood that North Melbourne has officially dropped out of the race for the 26-year-old who recently said he would consider departing the Crows if a deal would benefit the rebuilding club.

Crouch played with Cats star Patrick Dangerfield at the Crows and would add to an already talented midfield which includes the likes of captain Joel Selwood, Mitch Duncan and Sam Menegola.

The 91-game on-baller is seeking a five-year deal with the Crows with SEN’s Sam Edmund reporting this week that contract talks are under way.
