Nic Naitanui’s dominance on Saturday night was a key reason for his side’s win over Geelong in one of the games of the year.
The Cats continue to struggle in the ruck department, with the position being an issue that has lingered over the last year.
Rhys Stanley and Darcy Fort are currently injured and Geelong made do with a combination of Esava Ratugolea and Mark Blicavs.
Garry Lyon believes it remains a headache for coach Chris Scott.
“Geelong not solving their ruck issues, is that going to be their Achilles heel?” Lyon told SEN Breakfast.
“I know that Stanley was going to be the man and he’s got issues now, given the way Nic Naitanui pulverised them?
“They were using Esava Ratugolea’s jump in the centre bounces and Mark Blicavs’ athleticism around the ground, but it took Blicavs away from Josh Kennedy and Kennedy ends up kicking the four goals and helps them win the game.
“Imagine if they had landed Todd Goldstein (in the trade period).”
Geelong will take on North Melbourne and Goldstein on Wednesday night.
