Richmond confirm premiership defender's return, provides update on two key injuries

2020-08-02T17:20+10:00

Richmond will welcome back two-time premiership defender Nick Vlasutin in Tuesday night’s blockbuster clash against Brisbane, the club has confirmed.

Vlastuin missed his side’s clash against the Western Bulldogs last Wednesday night due to a calf injury but will line up against the Lions in Round 10.

"Nick trained (on Sunday) with the group and did some running two days ago as well,” Richmond Physical Performance Manager Tim Burge told the club’s website.

“It was very minor and it was a tough decision not to play him (against the Bulldogs) because he wasn't too bad. But with the three games in the space of 10 days, it was just the right call.

“But he'll play on Tuesday night."

Richmond also provided an update on Dion Prestia and Toby Nankervis, who both suffered ankle injuries earlier this season.

"Toby (Nankervis) is going great, he started running a couple of days ago and looks fantastic,” Burge said.

“So, we're expecting his progression will be fairly solid over the next week or so, he's not too far away. He's running and feeling really good.

“Dion is a little bit behind Toby at this stage. He'll start running this week but he's been doing a lot of walking and his strength exercises, so he's progressing well."
