The "different" way Port Adelaide won which impressed Kane Cornes

Port Adelaide premiership player Kane Cornes has heaped praise on his former club following their 13-point win against the Western Bulldogs on Monday night.

The Dogs dominated large parts of the first half, but only held a three-point lead at the main break before the Power took control of the game in the third term.

Cornes said Port Adelaide’s ability to limit the Dogs’ scoring in the first half while under pressure was a catalyst to them posting their eighth victory from 10 games this season.

“While they weren’t playing their best footy (in the first half) they weren’t blown away by any means,” Cornes said on SEN SA Breakfast.

“Their defence has been so strong and that’s what helped them when they were under siege. You come out after half time, you readjust some things in the long break and go bang and it’s game over.

“They won a different way in terms of they were challenged right from the start so I thought the resilience of the group (was good) when in the past they would’ve been run over and beaten by a pretty good sides in the Dogs, who I didn’t thing did too much wrong.

“We’re starting to believe in the system Port Adelaide have and they’re a different side this year then they’ve been in the last couple.”

The high-flying Power currently sit top of the ladder but face a challenging fortnight ahead with matches against Richmond and Geelong to come.
