North Melbourne provide update on Brown knee injury

2020-08-05T21:40+10:00

North Melbourne coach Rhyce Shaw has his “fingers crossed” Ben Brown’s knee injury which he picked up in Wednesday night’s loss to Geelong is “not too bad”.

The 27-year-old, who was recalled this week after being dropped in Round 9, came off in the first quarter after his knee was crunched in a tackle.

Shaw said he would “hope for the best” as they await the result of scans on the star forward's injury.

“I haven’t had much chat with the medical staff at the moment,” Shaw told reporters post-match.

“We’ll make sure we get across that as soon as possible. But we’ll just hope for the best.”

“He was really keen to go well, Ben (Brown), and against a backline that’s played together for a very long time, is really well structured and work well together.

“We needed all the bodies we could and Ben was certainly a main part of that without Nick Larkey and Curtis Taylor down there this week.

“(The injury) was really disappointing and it put us on the back foot a little bit with our rotations and obviously losing one so early in the game."

After losing to the Cats by 33 points, North Melbourne’s next assignment is against Melbourne at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.
