Collingwood has edged past Sydney by nine points thanks to a spectacular late goal from Josh Daicos.
Goals were at a premium in the low-scoring affair at the Gabba but the depleted Magpies did just enough to see off a late Swans scare to jump into seventh spot on the ladder.
The Pies recorded 17 more inside 50s but wayward goalkicking kept the door ajar for Sydney who were extremely efficient in attack early.
The Swans finished strongly and piled on the pressure with repeat inside 50 entries but were unable to land the knockout punch.
Collingwood’s thrilling victory came at a heavy cost with Will Hoskin-Elliott, Adam Treloar and Isaac Quaynor all picking up injuries.
Here’s everything you need to know!
The Moment: Daicos special seals Pies win
Like father, like son.
Daicos channelled his dad and Collingwood great Peter Daicos by dobbing a sensational checkside goal from the boundary line with the game in the balance deep in the final quarter.
It was a moment of inspiration from Daicos that enabled the Magpies to seal the all-important four points and record their fifth win of the campaign.
The Pies son-of-a-gun was instrumental in helping his side get over the line collecting 25 disposals, four clearances, four score involvements and 501 metres gained to go with his stunning clutch goal.
