Sydney and Fremantle will be based in Cairns when the AFL season heads to far north Queensland.
The Swans and Dockers will tomorrow be announced as the two teams relocated to Cairns, with as many as six games to be played at Cazaly’s Stadium.
The two clubs will be in Cairns from rounds 15-18, but won’t play each other given they are already locked in to meet in Round 13 at Optus Stadium on August 22.
Instead, rivals clubs will fly in and out of Cairns for games. Melbourne will play two matches there against the Dockers and Swans, while also travelling to Alice Springs to face St Kilda.
Fremantle and Sydney will also fly out of Cairns for other matches in this fixture block leading into finals.
