Essendon come knocking for Collingwood star De Goey

2020-09-15T08:55+10:00

Essendon has reportedly made their interest in Jordan De Goey known.

SEN’s Sam Edmund has reported that the Bombers have raised their interest in the Collingwood star with his father and manager Roger.

De Goey, 24, is out of contract this year alongside Darcy Moore making it a pair of two key players the Magpies are still hoping to tie down to new deals.

“There’s a lot of spitballing at the moment but they (Essendon) have asked about one particular high-profile player,” he said on SEN Breakfast.

“I don’t think anyone thinks he’s going to go anywhere but Essendon has raised their interest with Jordan De Goey’s old man, because Roger is his manager at the moment.

“They’ve come knocking for Jordan De Goey, Essendon.

“Is this just asking the question? Probably.

“The (trade) whiteboard on every club, if they are any good, is deep with multiple names.

“But they have asked the question with Jordan De Goey just to test the waters.

“We are all pretty sure he’s going to stay with Darcy Moore but it hasn’t stopped Essendon, and I’m sure others, asking the question.”

De Goey returned from a two-month absence with a finger injury to kick four goals in Collingwood’s grinding 22-point win over Gold Coast last night.

The Magpies secured a spot in the top eight as a result of the victory.
