Why departed Giant would be a “worthwhile” addition at North Melbourne

Terry Wallace suggests Aidan Corr would be a welcome addition at North Melbourne.

The defender has informed GWS that he will explore free agency in the upcoming trade period and has also left the club’s Gold Coast hub prior to the Giants’ season being over.

It is being reported that Corr, 26, will nominate the Kangaroos as his club of choice and the potential shift to Arden Street has been backed by Wallace who sees the 98-game backman as a good fit in defence.

“I’ll give my take on Aidan Corr. I think he’s very much a player that’s worthwhile getting,” he said on SEN’s The Match Committee.

“I think that they are light down the back end of the ground.

“(Ben) McKay has shown some positive signs over the last three or four weeks. I think he’s been better.

“But they are still light down that end, particularly with Robbie Tarrant coming to an end.”

AFL Hall of Famer Wallace indicated that bringing in some experienced players from other clubs, provided it’s balanced, is a clever strategy for the Roos.

“You ask me the question of which way should they be going, I think the balance is ok,” he added.

“They’ve got some high-end draft picks. So the kids will still be coming in. If they can do a little bit of both (recycle and develop), I think that’s the way to go.”

While the Kangaroos were competitive against West Coast in their final home-and-away match last night, overall it has been a failure of a season under Rhyce Shaw which has yielded just three wins.

However, Wallace feels things with the Roos will improve if Shaw is given time to get it right.

“They do like they’ve got no identity. It’s just fallen away so badly,” Wallace said further.

“I don’t think that we can look at the last four to five weeks and say that’s what you’re going to get at the start of next year again.

“You’ve just got to give him time and space. We’ve seen that they can do it right but for whatever reason they seem to have fallen away more than anyone.

“Give them some grace at this time.”
