Axe falls at North Melbourne with ELEVEN delisted

2020-09-18T15:07+10:00

North Melbourne has announced the delisting of 11 players as the club begins a rebuild.

Jamie Macmillan, Majak Daw, Jasper Pittard, Ben Jacobs, Paul Ahern, Mason Wood, Sam Durdin, Marley Williams, Joel Crocker, Lachie Hosie and Tom Murphy have all been told they will not be offered contracts for season 2021.

It’s a brutal move by the Kangaroos who endured a difficult season which saw them win just three matches under Rhyce Shaw.

Macmillan, who joined the club back in 2009, departs after 167 games as the most experienced of the eleven.

Sudanese-born pioneer Daw managed 54 games for the Roos since 2013 with the highlight being when he returned to the senior side this year after recovering from serious hip and pelvic injuries.

Former Port Adelaide defender Pittard played 33 times in two seasons in the royal blue and white for a total of 159 games while fellow former Power player Jacobs departs after 64 games for the Arden Street club, concussion cruelling his 90-game career.

Wood managed 65 games and kicked 76 goals over seven seasons while Ahern played 24 games after crossing from GWS in 2017.

Williams joined from Collingwood at the end of 2016 and added 60 games to the 68 he played with the Magpies.

Durdin played 21 times in North colours while Murphy played nine, Hosie five and Crocker did not debut at AFL level.
