The three clubs that could "come strongest" for Ben Brown

2020-09-19T10:55+10:00

North Melbourne has started their list rebuild, announcing on Friday that 11 players would not be offered new deals heading in 2021.

It means the likes of Mason Wood, Majak Daw and Jasper Pittard will all depart the club as they look to aggressively reshape the make up of their current squad.

There’s a number of contracted players who could also leave North Melbourne during the upcoming trade period, one of which is forward Ben Brown.

The 27-year-old has only played nine games this year on the back of a knee injury but has kicked over 60 goals in three consecutive seasons before 2020.

Discussing the clubs who could “come hardest” for Brown during the trade period, Garry Lyon said Brisbane could be potentially one of the most interested parties.

“I’m thinking that Brisbane would be one I’m looking at as a potential (suitor for Brown),” Lyon said on AFL Nation.

“Eric Hipwood is getting better and Dan McStay is one of those blokes that when he plays to his potential he’s as good as most but that only happens once every eight weeks so I think Brisbane will have a look at it.

Anthony Hudson floated Collingwood as a potential option for Brown if salary cap space allowed.

“They (probably) wouldn’t have the money but Collingwood would probably like him,” he said.

Gerard Whateley said that Essendon could be another potential club for Ben Brown if Joe Daniher decides to leave.
