Senior Suns staff films Dew urinating in public, club takes "full responsibility" for incident

2020-09-21T21:40+10:00

Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew has been filmed urinating in a public place by one of the club’s senior staff.

The video obtained by The Courier-Mail shows Dew urinating against a pub wall after a staff get-together at the Miami Tavern Shark Bar on the Gold Coast.

It’s understood the Suns were made aware of the incident but no action was taken against Dew or the staff member who filmed the video.

The clip was reportedly circulated by unhappy sources connected to Suns staffers who were recently made redundant.

Urinating in public is a criminal offence and carries a $533.80 penalty in Queensland.

"The Gold Coast Suns Football Club wish to make the below statement following the public release of a two-year old video.

“We apologise for our actions for which there is no excuse and we take full responsibility for our behaviour,” Dew said.

The SUNS were made aware of the video and have cautioned the employees about their actions.

“The behaviour that took place and the filming and distribution of the footage was not appropriate and we have taken responsibility for what has happened ,” Suns General Manager Football Jon Haines said.

Both Stuart Dew and Jon Haines will personally donate $5000 each to the programs that AFL Cape York house supports including providing educational, employment and training opportunities for young indigenous men from some of Far North Queensland’s most remote communities.

The Gold Coast Suns fully understand the position they have within the Queensland community."
