Star defender Zac Williams has informed GWS of his decision to explore his free agency rights this year.
Williams is a restricted free agent and has been strongly linked with a move on big money to either Carlton or North Melbourne.
Giants football manager Jason McCartney said the club was disappointed with his decision.
“It’s disappointing to receive this news as Zac has come a long way since coming through the Giants Academy pathway,” McCartney told the club’s website.
“We understand that free agency is part of the current football landscape and that the players have the right to go down this path.”
Williams played 11 games in 2020 and, according to the GWS statement, wishes to move to Victoria to be closer to his sister who lives in Albury.
