Australian cricketing great Ian Healy has paid tribute to Dean Jones, who passed away overnight after suffering a heart attack.
Healy reflected, saying the outpouring of love from around the world proved how treasured Jones was.
“Very weird day yesterday, we were attending one of the great cricket lunches we’ve ever been a part of and then heard a couple of hours after leaving that lunch that that had happened,” Healy told SEN’s Pat and Heals.
“We talked about our roommates on this show yesterday and Jones was one of my favourites. We roomed together for the first six Ashes tests I ever played.
“He was a great value around the room and always an initiator. You know, coming up with theories, statistics, ideas that might make us play better or make the game become better.
“He was thoroughly loved around the world. The outpouring has been incredible.
“The amount of work he’s done in those Asian nations, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka – they love him.”
