Harley Bennell has been taken to hospital on the Gold Coast during celebrations after he announced his AFL retirement, reports the Courier-Mail.
The report suggests that police were called to an apartment in Broadbeach at about 8pm last night.
Police found the former Gold Coast, Fremantle and Melbourne player “heavily intoxicated” which prompted them to call paramedics and he was subsequently taken to hospital in an ambulance.
Bennell, 27, recently breached COVID-19 protocols on the Sunshine Coast which saw him fined $50,000 and suspended for four games.
He announced his retirement via Instagram on Monday with the Demons later confirming the decision.
