With Adam Saad and Joe Daniher signalling their intentions to leave Essendon, could Orazio Fantasia be the next player to walk out?
Fantasia was heavily linked with a return home to South Australia last off-season but decided to stay at Tullamarine.
The small forward is contracted to the Bombers for next year but a move to one of the South Australian clubs is a looming as a distinct possibility this time around.
Essendon GM of Football Dan Richardson says Fantasia has been dealing with periods of homesickness and that a trade request would not come as a suprise.
“I know there’s been some discussion about a couple of other players in the media and you’re probably referring to Orazio at this point in time,” Richardson told SEN’s Bob and Andy.
“He hasn’t requested a trade. He has expressed periods of homesickness and he’s certainly got a very close connection family wise back in Adelaide.
“If there was a request forthcoming for him to want to return there, then I don’t think that would be a surprise, but we’ll cross that bridge when it comes to it.”
Fantasia, 25, played just five games in 2020 due to a quad injury.
