Sam Edmund's trade update on Witherden, Narkle, Crouch, Cameron and more

2020-10-13T11:31+11:00

SEN Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund joined Gerard Whateley for all the latest on several trade and free agency targets.

Edmund said Geelong remains “right in the mix” to secure GWS Giants forward Jeremy Cameron, while also confirming Robbie Tarrant’s determination to stay at North Melbourne despite a “feeling of disenchantment” a few months ago.

See all the latest updates here:

Will Brodie and Peter Wright (Gold Coast)

“Brodie and (Peter Wright) are very much in the shop window if you’re the Gold Coast,” Edmund said on SEN’s Whateley.

“I’ve checked in with both of those, no formal interest has been lodged with those two players at the moment.”

Robbie Tarrant and Todd Goldstein (North Melbourne)

“This rumour has been doing the rounds for quite a while, but it’s been emphatically shut down," he said.

“I touched based with (Todd) Goldstein’s management not too long ago and he is absolutely committed to Arden Sreet and he will fulfill that contact but he has had that carrot dangled in front of him.

“Any North Melbourne supporter will tell you Robbie Tarrant is so loyal to that football club but having said that, going back a few months, there was a feeling of disenchantment from Robbie and he was unhappy with various aspects of the club.

“My understanding is that those issues have been resolved and Robbie will be staying at North Melbourne, where he is now happy.”

Jeremy Cameron (GWS Giants)

“Geelong is absolutely in it,” he said.

“GWS are still confident but mind you, they were confident on Zac Williams as well. This is such a big signing.

“What happens with Geelong? They’re right in the mix.”

Brad Crouch (Adelaide)

“Geelong is in the box here,” he said.

“They’ve been in touch with him for some time, Richmond has (a little bit of interest), but I don’t think Essendon are in the hunt either.

“I believe the hold up with this one is relating to the clubs remaining in the finals race.”

Alex Witherden (Brisbane)

“He’s obviously gettable for the right suitor,” he said.

“Brisbane would very much entertain a trade if the right deal presented itself, but I don’t have a home for him at the moment.”

Charlie Constable, Nakia Cockatoo and Quinton Narkle (Geelong)

“There are a couple of fringe (Geelong players) that could be at new homes next year,” he said.

“Charlie Constable is one of those, Nakia Cockatoo has been linked to Brisbane and someone like Quinton Narkle who we hear that he wants to move up and live around the Melbourne metropolitan area.

“We know he’s good friends with Shai Bolton – and I’m not saying he’s going to Richmond – but he’s every chance that he should’ve played more football this year.

“It will be interesting to see whether he finds a new home next year.”
