Night racing returns to Pakenham tonight with an eight-race program ahead of the massive day of racing tomorrow.
Track is currently rated as a Soft 6 with showers forecasted for the meeting and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.
Race 3 Maiden Plate (1600m) @ 6:15pm
1. Lady In The Sky
If she can run the race that she ran first up, she should be right in the finish once again here. Her first up run was an eye-catching finish from the back of the field where she dashed up along the fence to finish fourth at Ballarat. She steps up to the mile here and gets onto a big track in Pakenham which should suit her nicely. The speed in the race is the only query so she won’t want to get too far back if they are crawling up front but with any sort of tempo, she should be hard to hold out.
Suggested bet: Back Lady In The Sky to win at $4.40.
Race 6 Class 1 Handicap (1600m) @ 7:45pm
1. Sanctimonius
Looks a terrific each way bet in this. Drops down in grade for this assignment and has the blinkers coming on. Looks to be a solid tempo in the race which will suit him perfectly to come to the outside and finish over the top of them. Should be rock hard fit now and comes into this third-up which was where he got his maiden win in his first preparation. Step up to the mile also looks suitable. Good each way chance.

Race 7 Benchmark 70 (1400m) @ 8:15pm
12. Our Birdsong
Think this daughter of Snitzel could be a knock-out chance here. The former New Zealand galloper resumed first-up in Australia at Mornington over the 1200m and finished 6th. She never really settled in the run and was left flat footed when the sprint went on. She got through the line okay so stepping out to the 1400m should suit her, a distance where she is two wins from two races at. She comes from a Heavy track last start back to a Soft track which is ideal for her as she also has three wins from three on soft rated tracks. Expecting an improved effort and a good each way chance.
Suggested bet: Back Our Birdsong each-way at $17 win, $4.60 place.
Race 8 Benchmark 64 (1200m) @ 8:45pm
12. Ziavera
Like the looks of this mare first-up in the last. She looked very sharp in her jump out here at Pakenham on the 16th September. Showed some good gate speed there so think she could settle just in behind the leaders from her draw and get the gun run in the race. She looks to have come back nicely and looks ready to go first-up on her home track and a rain-effected surface which she is well-performed on.
Suggested bet: Back Ziavera each-way at $5.50 win, $2.10 place.
