"They don't really need me": Neale bullish about Fremantle's young midfield

2020-10-19T08:37+11:00

Lachie Neale’s departure from Fremantle left a gaping hole in their midfield at the end of 2018.

However, the 2020 Brownlow Medallist and two-time Fremantle best and fairest winner believes his old club is now in good hands.

“I think the way Fremantle is going, they don’t really need me at the moment, they’ve got a young bloke in Caleb Serong coming through, Andrew Brayshaw, Adam Cerra, I think they’re set up really well through the midfield and it was a pleasure watching those young guys come through the club,” Neale told SEN Breakfast.

“I have a pretty special relationship with Andy Brayshaw and he had a great year this year and he’s only going to improve.

“They’re in fine hands there at the Dockers.”

Neale has elevated his game since joining Brisbane, entering the top tier of midfielders in the competition and comfortably winning this year’s Brownlow Medal.
