Voss responds to North Melbourne coaching speculation

2020-10-21T15:22+11:00

Port Adelaide assistant coach Michael Voss has responded to reports linking him to the North Melbourne senior coaching position.

The Kangaroos could be on the market for a new coach with Rhyce Shaw taking time away from football for personal reasons and no guarantees to return to coaching for the 2021 season.

Voss was asked on SEN SA’s Kymbo and The Rooch whether he would be interested in coaching the Roos if the opportunity presented itself.

“From my perspective, I’ve been working with Chris (Davies) and Ken (Hinkley) about what next year looks like for me and we’re working through the details of what that looks like. From my point of view, it’s Port Adelaide,” Voss said.

“I love what I do here, I love the role that I’ve played this year and I’ve really enjoyed working with the players and what I do in that space so we’ll continue to do that.

“I think the big thing here is that whenever you announce you want to be a senior coach I think most people think that means tomorrow.

“I think we all have ambitions; I don’t think there’d be too many coaches out there right now that wouldn’t take the opportunity of being a senior coach in the right circumstances.

“For me, that has been stated well and truly, I don’t think I need to repeat myself in that area again.

“But that doesn’t mean it’s tomorrow and there’s a lot to consider to be able to try and take a step like that.”

Voss coached Brisbane between 2009-2013 before joining the Power as a midfield coach and then moving into a senior assistant position.
