Sam Edmund's trade update on Smith, De Goey, Hogan and the "messy" Treloar situation

2020-10-24T13:23+11:00

Sam Edmund joined Gerard Whateley and Kane Cornes on SEN's Crunch Time for his daily trade and free agency update.

He has some added detail on the situation at Collingwood with Jordan De Goey and Adam Treloar, while also providing an update on which club is interested in Jesse Hogan.

See all the updates below:

Adam Treloar (Collingwood)

“He’s probably the mayor of the intrigue category through no fault of his own,” he said.

“To be honest, it’s getting a bit messy. My reading of it at the moment is Collingwood want Treloar to make the first move and they desperately want this contract off the books.

“This contract is until 2025, it’s back-ended and it’s huge in the back end – my understanding is it’s around $900,000 a season and that is obviously pre-COVID.”

Jordan De Goey (Collingwood)

“This is an ongoing scenario,” he said.

“He was put out there in the marketplace for rival clubs and that was instigated by his father Roger, there was not much substance to the Carlton interest and there never has been.

“It all points to him staying at Collingwood and on a far less lucrative contract that he would have previously commanded.

“I think he stays and it’s on a two-year deal.”

Jesse Hogan (Fremantle)

“Fremantle has told clubs that he’s available and gettable for a trade,” he said.

“Whether those clubs are willing to go there is the question we can’t answer at the moment. I’m told GWS will ask the question to sound him out and whether he’d be interested in coming over east.

“He’s really struggled to make an impact at Fremantle, he’s a curious case.”

Clayton Oliver (Melbourne)

“The intrigue around him has dimmed somewhat but the restless was real from the player himself,” he said.

“The queue to sign him would be long, there was some fact there that he was unhappy, but there was some fact there that he was unhappy but there’s a big bridge between being unhappy and then putting in a trade request.

“He now stays (at Melbourne).”

Isaac Smith (Hawthorn)

“I think we all suspect he is leaving Hawthorn,” he said.

“We know Geelong is interested, but Melbourne is the frontrunners.

“Melbourne have somewhat of an obsession with finding the ideal wingers.”
