Lloyd ranks four key forwards who are on the market this trade period

Essendon great Matthew Lloyd has ranked four key forwards who are on the market in the upcoming trade and free agency period.

Joe Daniher looks set to join Brisbane as a restricted free agent after requesting a trade from the Bombers.

Ben Brown is also on the move after being put up for trade by North Melbourne despite kicking over 60 goals in every season between 2017-2019.

Jesse Hogan’s future at Fremantle is in doubt while Peter Wright is likely to leave Gold Coast after falling out of favour in 2020.

Speaking on AFL Trade Radio’s The Early Trade, Lloyd ranked the four aforementioned key forwards.

1. Joe Daniher

“I still believe he can be a top-10 player in the game if he can get his body right.

“With a fresh start at Brisbane he could help them win a premiership next year because he’s massive upgrade on (Daniel) McStay and (Eric) Hipwood, as good as Hipwood is developing.”

2. Ben Brown

“I think that Ben is limited. If I was Adam Ramanauskas (manager), I would be really looking at how teams move the ball.

“Ben is a good hard straight-line lead, he’s not like Nick Riewoldt who can do figure eights, lose his player with second and third leads.

“To me, he needs the ball coming in fast and with space in front of him.

“You need quick ball movement, I think Ben Brown could kick 45 (goals) for Geelong for example, the way that Tom Hawkins gets hit up and the way their system works, he would be a fantastic player there.”

3. Peter Wright

“I wouldn’t take Peter Wright or Jesse Hogan at my footy club.”

4. Jesse Hogan

“Jesse Hogan is a better player than Peter Wright, but I’d go Peter Wright at three and Jesse Hogan at four just because of the question marks on Hogan and his off-field issues.”
