North Melbourne to name new coach within three weeks

2020-10-27T11:00+11:00

NORTH MELBOURNE has drawn up a hit-list of 10 men to choose their next senior coach.

It can also be revealed the Kangaroos have whittled their candidates down to 10 after an initial list of more than 30 options were initially discussed to replace Rhyce Shaw.

Those 10 would-be coaches will now be contacted before the club moves to the interview phase.

The Roos are also expected to reveal their coaching selection panel in the coming days.

North chief executive Ben Amarfio will head-up a selection committee that will also include club legend Glenn Archer and football manager Brady Rawlings, among others.

Veteran coach Paul Roos will also join the club and will have a role to play on the newly-formed coaching panel.

North hopes to be in a position to announce its new senior coach within the next 2-3 weeks.

North Melbourne last week announced it had reached a mutual decision with Shaw to part ways, effective immediately, after only 29 games in charge.

But the club has had a set of contingency plans in place for some time, chief among them the strong chance they would have to find a new coach for 2021 and beyond.
