Tributes have poured in following the passing of much-loved Essendon club doctor Bruce Reid, aged 75.

Reid was at the Bombers for over three decades and had recently been battling mesothelioma.

Former Essendon captain Brendon Goddard said Reid had an “immense impact” on so many people in the football world.

"It's sad news for everyone, especially (wife) Judy and the kids,” he said on AFL Trade Radio’s Trade Mornings.

“The footy club was almost like a sanctuary for him, he just loved the club and the boys. He has had such an immense impact on so many people's lives.

“(He was) such a wonderful man.”

John Quinn, who worked at Essendon with Reid, said he was “one of the greats” in his field.

“There’s never going to be another Bruce Reid,” he said on SEN’s Whateley.

“He’s known across the industry and one of the greats. He was a great doctor and just his insight and ability to see what was going on, but beyond all of that he was just a good person.

“It’s not just a loss for Essendon, it’s a loss for sports medicine in Australia and a loss for football in Australia.

“He was a wonderful bloke.”
