There's another opposition midfielder who could be in Essendon's sights

2020-10-29T10:41+11:00

Garry Lyon’s ‘8:30am’ insider revealed on SEN Breakfast that Essendon could be circling St Kilda midfielder Seb Ross during the upcoming trade period.

The 27-year-old is a restricted free agent at the end of 2021 and played 16 games this season, averaging just under 18 touches.

But as the Bombers look to bolster their midfielder with the likes of Jye Caldwell and possibly Josh Dunkley, Lyon’s insider is suggesting they’re interested in securing the services of Ross as well.

“My 8.30 man is suggesting that Seb Ross may have wandered through the Essendon setup (in previous weeks),” he said on SEN Breakfast.

“He is (Tim Watson’s) nephew and he’s apparently wondering around (Essendon territory)."

Watson responded to the suggestion, saying he hadn’t heard anything from his nephew regarding his future at the Saints.

“I haven’t heard anything about that (rumour),” he said.

“I wouldn’t expect him to give me a call and ask me anyways, Seb is very closed-shop and doesn’t give me anything.

“I haven't heard anything along those lines.”

Essendon is set to be a big player during trade period, with the likes of Joe Daniher, Adam Saad and Orazio Fantasia all set to depart.

Caldwell recently nominated the Bombers as his club of choice, while Dunkley reportedly is interested in making the move to Tullamarine
