Saints provide updates on Higgins, Ross, Lonie, Carlisle and more

2020-10-29T14:40+11:00

St Kilda Chief Operating Officer Simon Lethlean has provided updates on several players who are the subject of interest involving the Saints approaching the trade and free agency period.

Richmond’s Jack Higgins has been linked with a move to Moorabbin while Seb Ross is a reported target for Essendon.

It's unsure whether contracted pair Jimmy Webster and Luke Dunstan will be at the Saints next year while Jack Lonie and Jake Carlisle are without contracts for 2021.

Lethlean joined SEN’s Dwayne’s World to run through where the situations sit regarding those aforementioned players.

Jack Higgins

“It’s the season of speculation now and we’re wary about commenting on individuals - especially contracted ones.

“If someone signalled their intention to come to the Saints, so be it, but we certainly haven’t heard anything to confirm that at this stage.

“We don’t have an indication that he’s told Richmond or his management that the Saints is where he wants to get to.

“My understanding is that he’s under contract and we’re in mid-discussions now with Jack Lonie as well, who is in a similar position on the ground.

“I think the public speculation around Jack Higgins is ahead of where Jack Higgins certainly is and so far as what we know."

Seb Ross

“Not that I’m aware of (interest from Essendon). Seb is contracted for next year."

Jimmy Webster and Luke Dunstan

"Jimmy Webster and Luke Dunstan are contracted.

"I guess they're being talked about because they didn’t find their way into the team at the pointy end of the year."

Jack Lonie and Jack Carlisle

"Lonie and Carlisle have both got offers that they are considering, but I assume quite rightly they're considering them in the landscape of what else they might be able to achieve.”

Adam Treloar

"Adam Treloar’s a very good player but I don't think we have the assets or the cap at this stage to be considering Adam Treloar.

“I don't think it's for us."
