Sam Edmund's trade update on Crouch, Higgins, Daniher, Dunstan and more

2020-10-30T10:48+11:00

SEN Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund joined Garry Lyon and Tim Watson for all the latest on trade and free agency.

Edmund reports that St Kilda is the favourite to secure the services of Jack Higgins, while clubs are locked in talks over free agency targets such as Joe Daniher and Brad Crouch.

Jeremy Cameron (GWS Giants)

“There’s no players on the table from Geelong for the moment,” he said on SEN Breakfast.

“We know they have picks 13 and 18, maybe once Jeremy Cameron does go and GWS know what they have in the kitbag, they’ll know what they have to fire (with their picks and players).

“All parties say it’s almost impossible that it doesn’t happen, Jeremy Cameron is basically saying he’ll sit out a year of football if he has to.

“History says these deals get done, I don’t think it’s going to happen where Jeremy Cameron doesn’t get to Geelong, it’s just about how it looks.

Joe Daniher (Essendon)

“It was reported yesterday that the Lions now in fact will offer him this deal worth $700,000 a year and on face value, that is pick seven as compensation which they want and have demanded.

“Speaking to a few player agents yesterday afternoon, they were convinced that Brisbane’s offer was sitting somewhere around the $600k which wouldn’t get them pick seven as they want."

Brad Crouch (Adelaide)

“Again there’s been conflicting reports here on what this offer will look like.

“I’ve had it said to me as absolute fact that the Brad Crouch offer from St Kilda was $3.5-4m over five years, so somewhere north of $700,000 a season and that does sound a lot for Brad Crouch.

“If history is any guide, that would appear to be a first-round compensation pick, which in Adelaide’s situation would be pick two.”

Luke Dunstan (St Kilda)

“In an ideal world he would like to get back to South Australia,” he said.

“But at this stage, nothing is forthcoming for him officially.

“Jimmy Webster is contracted as well and has been mentioned as a possible trade target, but there’s no knowledge of his management knowing anything there either.”

Jack Higgins (Richmond)

“I said a couple of days ago that St Kilda is absolutely in the box seat here.

“The Tigers would like to keep him, but he wants opportunity and the Saints are definitely in the offing there.

“I think this one will happen, he’s due back from holidays in the next couple of days so expect this one to pick up pace in the lead up to the trade period.”
