Report: Carlton show interest in contracted Cat

2020-11-08T11:07+11:00

Geelong forward-midfielder Lachie Fogarty is reportedly weighing up his future despite being contracted for next year.

According to AFL.com.au, Carlton has shown interest in Fogarty with the Cats open to trading the 21-year-old at his request and if an attractive deal was put forward to the club.

Fogarty found opportunities hard to come by in 2020 playing just six games and was unable to crack into Chris Scott’s side during the finals.

Recruited via the Western Jets with pick No.22 in the 2017 draft, Fogarty has played 23 games for Geelong with 15 of those coming in his debut season in 2018.

It looms as a busy finish to the trade period for the Cats with multiple arrivals and departures expected.

Deals for Jeremy Cameron and Shaun Higgins are in the works while Quinton Narkle (off-contract) and Nakia Cockatoo (Brisbane) could be on the way out.

The trade period shuts on November 12.
