Report: Jack Higgins requests trade to St Kilda

2020-11-09T15:28+11:00

Richmond small forward Jack Higgins has requested a trade to St Kilda, according to The Age.

Higgins has a year to run on his Tigers contract but it’s understood he would get a longer-term deal with the Saints.

St Kilda Chief Operating Officer Simon Lethlean told SEN Breakfast last week that the club were keen on Higgins and that discussions had taken place with his management.

Higgins' manager Paul Connors confirmed his client's trade request.

"Over the weekend Jack got in touch with the coach (Damien Hardwick) and Blair Hartley at Richmond and he asked personally whether he could seek a trade," Connors told AFL Trade Radio's The Late Trade.

"He just wants to play footy and he’d love another opportunity at the Saints.

"I think Richmond would ideally like to keep Jack but they’re an extremely good team with a lot of depth, he wasn’t in the extended squad at the end of the year and he’s requested a trade."

The 21-year-old was unable to cement a spot in Richmond’s side in 2020, playing 10 games after making a successful return from brain surgery.

Higgins has kicked 29 goals in 43 games for the Tigers since debuting in 2018.

He was selected with the 17th pick overall in the 2017 draft.
