Blues are "a way better side in every way": Elias

2020-11-11T10:52+11:00

New South Wales great Benny Elias is “extremely confident” in the Blues’ ability to dominate Queensland and level the State of Origin series tonight.

Speaking on 1170 SEN’s Mornings with Matty White, Elias claimed that the Blues are “a way better side in every way”.

“I’m extremely confident and that’s the way the players should be feeling,” Elias said.

“They’re a way better side in every way, they had their backsides whacked in the first game.

“They took things for granted, and at this level you never should do that.

“The quality of the players they’ve got, with Freddy (Brad) Fittler and the people around him, they will show their worthiness and why we’ve invested in them over the last couple of years.”

Elias believes the players will be looking to put last week’s 18-14 loss behind them with a resounding performance at ANZ Stadium tonight.

“I think the players are really primed up, they were really embarrassed down in Adelaide,” he added.

“It was a major upset, one of the biggest upsets I’ve seen for a long, long time.

“It’ll be redemption with aggression. They will come out and absolutely bombard this mob, and pay for their sins for taking them too lightly in Game 1.”

With New South Wales needing a win to keep the series alive tonight, Elias is tipping a dominant result.

“It’s payback, it’s being embarrassed from the first game when we all expected the New South Wales side to win,” Elias added.

“I think we’ll win and we’ll win well, I’m saying 20 plus (points).”
