New specialist tasked with solving Curnow's knee problems

2020-11-11T10:11+11:00

CHARLIE Curnow hopes a new specialist can finally solve his knee problems after yet another setback during a kick-to-kick session.

Curnow was last week kicking the ball with brother Ed when he re-injured his troublesome right knee.

Carlton confirmed the latest problem is a stress injury to his patella - the seventh time he has hurt his right knee since 2016.

Curnow had surgery after dislocating his right knee cap playing basketball last year before fracturing his patella walking on a tiled staircase a month later.

It is hoped Curnow’s latest setback will keep him sidelined for only two months.

He will go under the knife today after consulting a new fracture specialist who is confident he can solve Curnow’s issues.

The specialist is understood to have identified several ways to fix Curnow’s recurring problems. He is believed to have told the player that the wires were taken out of his knee too early last year before Curnow suffered a hairline stress response in April.
