The "pretty phenomenal" trade haul North Melbourne is on the brink of securing

North Melbourne is on the verge of completing a “phenomenal” trade period considering their current circumstances, according to Sam Edmund.

The Roos are currently without a coach after Rhyce Shaw recently parted ways with the club due to personal reasons.

But despite the current uncertainty, North Melbourne has already been able to secure GWS free agent Aidan Corr and Western Bulldogs defender Lachie Young in a trade.

They are also reportedly interested in Collingwood forward Jaidyn Stephenson, as the Pies look to clear salary cap room.

If North Melbourne secure Stephenson in a trade alongside Corr and Young, Edmund says it would be a “fair effort” amid the current uncertainty at Arden Street.

“If North Melbourne get Jaidyn Stephenson in, that’s Stephenson, (Aidan) Corr and (Lachie) Young in without a coach, then that would be a fair effort,” he said on AFL Trade Radio.

“I know they’re off Broadway to a degree, but that would be a pretty phenomenal effort to bring in three players without a coach.”

Adam Cooney said bringing three players in during one trade and free agency window would be even more impressive considering they are currently the only club without a senior coach for 2021.

“The toughest decision when you want to leave a club is how you get along with a senior coach,” he said.

“That affects everything about how you play, where you play and the relationship and what sort of coach he is.

“Aidan Corr had already made the decision before (former coach) Rhyce Shaw had departed, if they lock these three players in and get these bumper draft picks in the next couple of years, then you bolster your younger stocks.

“You’d have to have a development coach that comes in because there are going to be young players who come through and play straight away.

“Age is no factor (in a new coach), it’s just about how well you develop young talent as a coach.”

In more good news, the club announced on Thursday that Jed Anderson had put pen to paper on a new two-year deal.
