Matty Johns gets revenge on son Cooper with Cameron Smith text prank

2020-11-20T10:24+11:00

Melbourne Storm player Cooper Johns, and his Dad, 1170 SEN’s Matty Johns, have been going back and forth with some huge pranks.

Cooper made his first-grade debut for the Storm this season, and pranked his legendary NRL father on Sydney’s Kyle and Jackie O show on KIIS FM.

21-year old Cooper is a dead-ringer lookalike of former Newcastle Knight Kurt Gidley, and he used that to full effect with his prank on his father.

On a recorded phone call, Cooper claimed he was getting harassed online about being Kurt’s son, and asked for Matty to take a DNA test to put the issue to rest.

Matty responded by telling Cooper “if you take any notice of imbeciles on social media, then you’re a wood-duck yourself”.

Kyle and Jackie O then jumped in revealing the prank, after Cooper had “rattled” his father.

In response, while recording this morning’s 1170 SEN show Morning Glory, Matty stole his son’s phone and sent out an interesting text to his teammates and other high profile Storm figures.

The text was in response to Cameron Smith’s new autobiography – The Storm Within – and took a shot at the future Immortal.

It was sent to Cameron Munster, Brandon Smith, Billy Slater, Josh Addo-Carr, Cameron Smith and Craig Bellamy among others.

The text read: “What about our fearless leader’s self-adoring memoir? Never felt the need to even mention my name, huh? Enjoy the Titans, baldy.”

Addo-Carr was one of the first to respond, texting back “What, did he sign with them?”

They say revenge is best served cold, and Cooper certainly paid for his original prank.

Hopefully the 21-year-old can get an apology text out explaining what happened before Bellamy or Smith get the chance to read it.
