SEN Track Preview: Moonee Valley Friday night best bets

2020-11-20T11:45+11:00

Under lights once again at Moonee Valley on a Friday night with eight races to be run and won.

The weather is currently fine with the track currently rated as a Good 4 and the rail is out 7m for the entire circuit.

Race 3 Benchmark-64 (1600m) @ 6:30pm

Katsuma

Think she can bounce back to form in this. Massive drop in grade after contesting benchmark-78 and benchmark-80 level in her previous two starts. Looks to be a fair bit of pace in the race which should ensure a strongly run mile and give her a chance to run on from the back. Use the first two races on the program to get a guide on whether horses can make ground from the back. If they are running on, she has a strong chance.

Suggested Bet: Back Katsuma each-way ($6 win, $2.10 place)

Race 5 Class 1 Handicap (1200m) @ 7:30pm

All About Fashion

Comes in nicely at the weights compared to some of her main rivals and looks to get a good run towards the speed in the race from barrier six. Solid performance first-up over 1100m at Bendigo when finishing third. Form out of that race has been quite strong and she should appreciate the extra 100m. Expecting a good run by this lightly raced four-year-old.

Suggested Bet: Back All About Fashion each-way ($8 win, $2.60 place)

Race 6 Fillies & Mares Benchmark-70 (1600m) @ 8:00pm

Tragic

She is certainly short enough in the market, but she looks extremely hard to beat in this. Has been knocking on the door for a win this preparation with three placings from three races. Terrific run last start when beaten by Tralee Rose over the 1700m, step back to the mile in this should suit. She has drawn the inside barrier so if jockey Lachie Neindorf is positive out of the gates, she should be able to roll forward and sit in behind the speed. With even luck, she should be awfully hard to hold out.

Suggested Bet: Back Tragic to win ($2.15)

Race 7 Benchmark-78 (2040m) @ 8:30pm

Nerve Not Verve

Was a bit out of her depth last start in the Group 2 Matriach Stakes, when she was well behind the winner in Affair To Remember, but she should appreciate the big step back in grade here. She was solid in her two runs prior to last start in the Pinker Pinker Plate at Cranbourne and when running fourth to Irish Playboy at Bendigo. She should settle towards the speed and she has won here at the track before. Solid each-way chance.

Suggested Bet: Back Nerve Not Verve each-way ($9.50 win, $2.70 place)

Race 8 Benchmark-64 (1000m) @ 9:00pm

Divine Caprice

If they can make ground from the back tonight, the odds-on favourite (Vowmaster) and this horse should be the ones to beat. This three-year-old daughter of Sebring is ridiculously over the odds for this. She was terrific when winning her maiden first-up last preparation at Bendigo over 1000m before she contested strong form races in town behind the likes of Our Playboy, Standoff and Parlophone. She has plenty of ability, drawn well to run on from a strong speed and looks a top chance.

High Risk

If the track is siding towards the leaders, this mare will be right up there in the finish. Her last two efforts have been on rain-effected tracks in Benchmark-70 grade. She rarely runs a bad race and her only run on a Good track resulted in a win at Sale back in June. Will be plenty of pressure up front, but she is drawn to get a good run in the race and should be right there in the finish.

Suggested Bet: Back Divine Caprice each-way ($10 win, $2.70 place) and High Risk ($8 win, $2.30 place) with a strong place and small win bet.
