U20s Sea Eagles coach Wayne Lambkin pays tribute to Titmuss

2020-11-25T09:52+11:00

Keith Titmuss’ Under 20s coach Wayne Lambkin joined Andrew Voss on SEN 1170 after the tragic passing of the young rising star.

The Manly prospect had risen through the ranks at the Sea Eagles and regularly trained with the first team squad.

Titmuss passed away on Monday at Royal North Shore Hospital after becoming ill at the club’s training session that morning. Titmuss felt severe full body cramps after a 90-minute training session, collapsing shortly after.

Signed by Manly at just 14 years of age, Titmuss worked his way up the age groups to where he eventually helped Lambkin win his first premiership.

Lambkin was managing a close Grand Final when he decided to bring on Titmuss who scored a late try to win the game.

Lambkin was full of praise for the young prospect.

“He certainly had potential and the club saw that,” he said.

“I have no doubt that with persistence and a full pre-season under his belt, those things (first team appearances) were coming for him.

“He was certainly on his way.”

The NRL was shocked by the news and it has been a tough couple days for everyone involved.

“When someone goes to work, which for him was rugby league, you expect them to come home,” Lambkin added.
