Dittman rates his top rides for Doomben

2020-11-27T15:20+11:00

He is a jockey in solid form and is riding for one of the country’s premier trainers in Chris Waller.

Queensland jockey Luke Dittman hopes to continue his winning form on Saturday at Doomben and has some particularly strong rides booked for the program.

He takes the ride on Baller in race seven, who produced a slashing run from the back first-up for the Waller stable, and Dittman is confident that he can go even better second-up if the races shapes well for him.

“It was huge (his first-up run), the sectionals he run the last 600 were just amazing,” Dittman said on SEN Track.

“Another horse I’d love to draw an alley but unfortunately he hasn’t tomorrow, he’s got the wing, so he’ll probably go back again, and he’ll have to be cuddled till we turn the corner.

“If they’ve gone a bit quick (in the run), he’ll certainly pick them up in the straight.

“I just need the speed on and for him to slot in, go to sleep and if I’ve got something in front of me that’s going just as good to take me into the 200, he’s definitely in with a striking chance.”

Dittman also has the ride on Kubrick, who finds himself in far easier company than he has faced in some time and has a ride on two-year-old Conexy in race two.

“Kubrick back to a Class 3, he’s a million-dollar winner,” Dittman added when rating his best chances for the day.

“My two-year-old (ride) goes alright too, especially with the blinkers on.”

Kubrick is currently a $4.80 favourite in race five while Conexy is a $3.80 second favourite in race two.

Torrens goes around at $17 in race six tomorrow at Doomben, a ride which Dittman takes on for this start.

He got out with a massive lead last start over 2200m and managed to box on to finish fourth, something which Dittman said he won’t be allowing tomorrow.

“I probably won’t be giving him a dig out of the gates either, he did get running (last start),” Dittman admitted.

“I was quite amazed for him to finish the race off like he did, he had no right to finish fourth.

“I know he’ll be fit, the blinkers come off and if he gets a run up near the speed, and set a genuine pace himself, he’s definitely still a chance.”
