Who does draft prospect Eddie Ford models his game on?

Victorian draft prospect Eddie Ford has revealed the AFL champion he models his game on.

Speaking on SEN Breakfast on Wednesday morning, Ford, a product of NAB League club the Western Jets, said he models his game on dual Brownlow medalist and Fremantle skipper Nathan Fyfe.

“I got some vision of Nat Fyfe, what he does around the ground, what he does at stoppages to get himself free,” Ford said.

“Obviously Nathan Fyfe’s a class player, he has a couple of Brownlow’s under his belt and had some games where he’s just dominated.

“So I asked Freo for some vision on what he does, not just the basics but what he does around the ground, at stoppages, running patterns when he’s playing forward.

“That’s the sort of area I play on the field as well. I’m a half forward and I’m looking to progress to the midfield just like him and I’m a similar build to him as well.

“I’ll definitely be using a couple of tips and tricks from him.”

The crafty half forward, who averaged 14 disposals and kicked seven goals in 16 NAB league games for the Jets in 2019, says many the strength of his game is his ability to beat his opponent.

“I think my elite strength at moment is my one-on-one stuff,” Ford said.

“Down forward I’m able to take marks and get amongst the goals which is one of the main things I’ve been able to do over the last few years with the Jets.”

After limited exposure this season like so many of his fellow Victorian draft hopefuls, Ford will be eagerly awaiting his name to be called on draft night next Wednesday.
