How a top Geelong Falcons prospect became a West Coast supporter

2020-12-03T11:55+11:00

Potential top 10 draft pick Tanner Bruhn has revealed one particular club's midfield group he’s followed for inspiration.

Speaking on SEN Breakfast on Thursday morning, the Geelong Falcons midfielder said his time spent in Western Australia growing up caused him to grow fonder of the West Coast Eagles midfielder group.

“I’m a West Coast supporter so I’ve sort of always been watching the West Coast midfielders,” Bruhn said.

“I spent a lot of time in Perth when I was younger, spent a lot of time around Subiaco and fell in love with West Coast. I used to follow Scott Selwood when he was playing there and just stuck with them ever since.”

Personally, Bruhn describes himself as a competitive ball-winner with strong leadership traits.

“I suppose I’m just a pretty competitive player, really driven and pride myself on my leadership as well,” Bruhn said.

“I think I could try and bring my competitiveness to a club and also my leadership as well as my football skills.”

After missing most of the 2019 season for the Falcons with persistent knee injuries, Bruhn missed the opportunity to strengthen his case as the drafts premier midfield prospect this season.

“It was pretty disappointing for me. I was looking forward to hopefully having a healthy season after obviously missing a good portion of last year as well,” Bruhn admitted.

“But it’s definitely given me some time to slow down and focus on the little things like my family and friends and also my studies.

"As bad as it’s been I’ve quite enjoyed it as well."
