Tigers set to pounce on unwanted Mansour

2020-12-04T08:36+11:00

After reportedly missing out on the signature of Storm star Josh Addo-Carr, the Wests Tigers have set their sights on Penrith winger Josh Mansour.

Mansour was told by the Panthers post Grand-Final that he would be surplus to requirements for Ivan Cleary's side next season, and it seems the Tigers are now in the box seat to land him.

The Tigers looked set to sign Addo-Carr earlier this month, but a substantial Bulldogs offer has them all but resigned to missing out on the Origin winger.

The Daily Telegraph’s David Riccio believes missing out on Addo-Carr will simply “fast-track” the Tigers’ pursuit of Mansour.

“I think this will just fast track discussions with Josh Mansour to join the club from the Penrith Panthers,” Riccio said on 1170 SEN Breakfast.

“Josh has been told by the Panthers he won’t be in their first choice 17 for next season, and if there was an opportunity to pursue an early release, they would likely grant that.

“And I believe now, the Tigers are right in the box seat to land Josh Mansour.”

The 30-year-old scored 12 tries in 2020, playing every minute in the Panthers minor-premiership winning season.
