How Saints addressed Crouch's off-field indiscretion

2020-12-09T09:00+11:00

Brad Crouch’s off-field indiscretion did not deter St Kilda from pursing the midfielder during the trade and free agency period.

Crouch will serve a two-match suspension to start 2021 after being caught by police in possession of an illicit substance in September and will attend a drug & alcohol education course prior to next season.

The 26-year-old joined the Saints as a restricted free agent on a long-term contract after Adelaide decided not to match the offer.

St Kilda coach Brett Ratten explained how he addressed the off-field matter with the former Crow before welcoming him to Moorabbin.

“I had a good chat with Brad, and we spoke about everything.” Ratten told SEN Breakfast.

“We had a good chat for probably around 40 minutes and I’m very comfortable with Brad coming to our football club.

“He’s a very good player, won a best and fairest only a couple of years ago, finds the ball and he knows what he did, and he knows his mistakes.

“He’s accountable to that and addressed that.”

Crouch played 95 games for the Crows since being drafted in 2011.
