Ex-Tiger and Magpie headline surprise Rookie Draft pick-ups

2020-12-10T12:27+11:00

The AFL held its Rookie Draft on Thursday morning, with Adelaide re-drafting Bryce Gibbs with the first pick.

Gibbs, who announced his retirement last year with a year to run on his contract, will not play in 2021, but has been re-listed for salary cap reasons.

The Crows also picked up GWS midfielder Jackson Hately in the Pre-Season Draft, fulfilling their promise after the two sides could not agree to a trade.

In other notable moves, Gold Coast signed Jacob Townsend from Essendon, giving him a fourth home.

Collingwood defender Tyson Goldsack returned from retirement to join Port Adelaide, while multiple clubs rookie listed established players.

North Melbourne picked up ex-Tiger Connor Menadue after a year with Werribee.
